Created across Los Angeles and Las Vegas over two years, DEEPFAKE is a photographic and motion body of work by leading Australian photographer and director Cybele Malinowski, co-founder of Agender, a platform expanding the female gaze and advocating for gender equity in photography.
Sitting somewhere between documentary and dreamlike film still, DEEPFAKE explores identity, performance, and the blurred line between person and persona. In a cultural moment when authenticity is constantly in question, these impersonators become mirrors, reflecting the masks we wear, the icons we borrow, and our strange contemporary compulsion to be both seen and unseen.
